There are many subtle things that make a smile attractive. Generally the two front upper teeth, or central incisors are proportionate to the length of the canines. The lateral incisors that are positioned in between the front teeth and the canines on each side, are slightly shorter. When the teeth are proportioned like this, it is very esthetically pleasing. Women tend to have more rounded corners to their teeth giving them a more feminine look. Men have more square corners, making them look more masculine. The shade of the teeth can make a difference too as you are probably aware. Usually if the whiteness of your teeth is similar to the whiteness of your eyes, it looks very natural. These are some of the basic things that we look for when a patient comes and we evaluate their smile. These things can usually be treated conservatively. If you would like to know more about your smile and esthetics, we would be happy to evaluate your smile and discuss it.
