What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry improves the appearance of a person’s smile which includes: teeth, gums and bite. For the teeth, it focuses on improving the overall smile including color, position shape, and alignment. For gums, it includes contouring or evening gums.
How Much Does Cosmetic Dentistry Cost?
Some cosmetic dentistry procedures can be a very inexpensive such as cosmetic contouring of teeth and dental bonding; however, some cosmetic dentistry costs can be quite high. Cosmetic dentistry costs can be divided into two areas that portion covered by insurance and the portion not covered by insurance. Our staff and regularly works with patients and their insurance companies and offer financing for patients that qualify. Strictly cosmetic dentistry is not covered by insurance; however, the portion of work needed for restorative dentistry is covered by insurance. Even the portions covered by insurance only have a portion covered by the insurance company.
What Are Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures?
Some of the simplest cosmetic dentistry procedures are tooth shaping and dental bonding. They can usually be performed in one visit and don’t require sedation. These procedures can have a dramatic impact on a smile when only minor changes are needed. Teeth whitening is another cosmetic dentistry procedure that has relatively low cost and makes an immediate and noticeable improvement of your smile. Cosmetic dentistry procedures such as porcelain veneers (also known as onlays or inlays) are more expensive and provide some of the most dramatic improvements; however, the cost of $900 to $1500 per tooth is not covered by insurance. Dental crowns are considered restorative dentistry and are usually covered by insurance. Many people consider crowns as part of cosmetic dentistry.
